Apple's Mac Pro to Be Assembled In US

Apple's Mac Pro

Apple’s newly unveiled Mac Pro, at just 9.9 inches tall with a diameter of just 6.6 inches — smaller than most subwoofers — offers up to 7 teraflops of computing power.

10 years ago this month, if it existed, Apple’s new Mac Pro would have been the eighth most powerful supercomputer on the entire planet, beating out the

The Mac Pro has gone for what feels like a century in the tech world, without an update. Sure, Apple would occasionally update the internals, but the external design and, besides the components, the internal architecture remained the same. Apple changed all of that during WWDC, and the new Mac Pro is smaller, yet far more powerful and uniquely designed than ever before

he new Mac Pro will be out later this year. It replaces the behemoth that was the last Mac Pro, finally fitting into the definition of a "desktop computer". At nearly 10 inches tall, and just 6 inches in diameter, it's a small powerhouse. And yes, I did say diameter. The new design takes on a cylindrical design, with a single, unified thermal core in the center of the computer, which cools the computer efficiently, using less energy.

The hardware specs are incredible, just as you'd expect from a professional grade Mac. The new Mac Pro is powered by 12 Intel Xeon E5 cores, 1,866MHz DDR3 RAM with data transmission speeds up to 60GB per second. It will use PCI-e built in flash memory, which is extraordinarily faster than both hard drives and solid state drives alike. It also has four USB 3.0 ports, and six Thunderbolt 2.0 ports, giving it unprecedented expandability. Each Thunderbolt 2.0 device can support up to six other devices, meaning a user could theoretically attach 36 Thunderbolt devices like displays or external drivers.
